  1. Here are two interesting comments that followed my posting on my Facebook re the Gib/Spanish conflict. The First from David Giles: The Spanish Government must stop this nonsense. If Spain believes it has a legal claim to Gibraltar then it should pursue the matter through the international courts. Spain ceded Gibraltar and Minorca to Britain by means of the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. In return Spain got peace, a Bourbon king and better relations with Britain which included British support for Spanish independence from France during the Napoleonic era. The people of Gibraltar have overwhelmingly voted to remain British. Spain should treat its international border with British Gibraltar in the same way it treats its borders with Andorra, France and Portugal.
The Second from Myra Azzopardi Swainson: Furthermore. Which European country uses blatant punishment to citizens of various nationalities. The sheer stupidly, naivety and ztrrogance of the Spanish government, blinds them from noting their childish actions. Saying that, one only has to note the blatant corruption, lies and incompetence, in running Spain into the ground, not to mention their present shortsighted attitude to the expat community residing in Spain.
