The IDF (Israeli Defence Force) opened a field hospital in Bogo City in the Philippines on Friday, and has since treated some 370 injured people, of which 150 are children, the army said Saturday.
IDF medical staff carried out operations with advanced medical equipment, and facilitated five births over the weekend, including one c-section procedure. The hospital was visited on Saturday morning by the Filipino head of the regional district, who thanked the members of the IDF delegation, and toured the field hospital. Last week, the IDF sent a large humanitarian mission to assist victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The mission is being headed by Col. Ramtin Sabati, who commands the National Rescue Unit. The mission also includes Col. Dr. Dudu Dagan, Deputy Chief Medical Corp Officer, who is commanding the hospital. The first baby born at the field hospital was delivered safely on Friday.
