THIS IS THE FOLLOW ON FROM THE POSTING ON MY FACEBOOK ABOUT THE SLAUGHTER OF HUNDREDS OF LIONS IN SOUTH AFRICA TO SUPPLY THE DEMAND IN CHINA FOR THEIR BONES TO USE IN ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE.

I know this has got nothing to do with the slaughter of lions or other endangered animals to full fill the huge demand by the Chinese who believe that these ridicules potions made from animals are medicines and are beneficial especially in improving their sex lives. I agree that education is key to stopping this but on the subject of education is also very important for us all to be warned on many alternative´ medicines especially homeopathy. Homeopathy therapy does not work in the vast majority of cases, which so many refuse to accept the failings of alternative medicine despite compelling evidence that it provides little benefit to patients because they are 'ideologically fixated'. Homeopaths believe that like should be treated with like. So, for example, to treat a cold they use a remedy based on onions, because onions produce the streaming eyes and nose typical of a cold, all total nonsense!!

I know this just might open a can of worms but unless these hocus pokus medicines are debated publically the manufactures will continue to con the public and by doing so make millions of dollars to feed their extravagant life styles. But there is also a very serious point here, sometime seriously ill people will listen to the rubbish put out about how alternative medicines like Homeopathy can cure say cancer and will believe this therefore by passing on mainstream medicine which could be fatal. The same as the Chinese we need to male warnings against the uselessness as so call medical cures. I believe that anyone who lectures, talks on radio or TV or writes in our newspapers etc who recommend alternative ´medicines should have a medical science degree at least. This will stop desperately sick people switching to their lotions and potions!!!
