ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE SUPPORTERS OF BOYCOTTING ISRAELI GOODS? IF SO PLEASE READ ON I JUST MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU. PLEASE HAVE A PEN AND PAPER TO MAKE A LIST LEST YOU FORGET SOMETHING NEXT TIME YOU'RE OUT SHOPPING....
OK. I understand that you are ticked off at Israel, and in love with the Palestinians. That's fine with me, as long as you have truly weighed up all the facts. So, you want to boycott Israel? I'll be sorry to miss you, but if you are doing it - do it properly. Let me help you. OK PEN AND PAPER READY? Check all your medications. Make sure that you do not have tablets, drops, lotions, etc., made by Abic or Teva. It may mean that you will suffer from colds and flu this winter but, hey, that's a small price for you to pay in your campaign against Israel, isn't it? While we are on the subject of your Israeli boycott, and the medical contributions to the world made by Israeli doctors and scientists, how about telling your pals to boycott the following..... An Israeli company has developed a simple blood test that distinguishes between mild and more severe cases of Multiple Sclerosis. So, if you know anyone suffering from MS, tell them to ignore the Israeli patent that may, more accurately, diagnose their symptoms. An Israeli-made device helps restore the use of paralysed hands. This device electrically stimulates the hand muscles, providing hope to millions of stroke sufferers and victims of spinal injuries. If you wish to remove this hope of a better quality of life to these people, go ahead and boycott Israel. Young children with breathing problems will soon be sleeping more soundly, thanks to a new Israeli device called the Child Hood. This innovation replaces the inhalation mask with an improved drug delivery system that provides relief for child and parent. Please tell anxious mothers that they shouldn't use this device because of your passionate cause. These are just a few examples of how people have benefited medically from the Israeli know-how you wish toblock. Boycotts often affect research. A new research center in Israel hopes to throw light on brain disorders such as depression and Alzheimer's disease. The Joseph Sangol Neuroscience Center in the Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer Hospital aims to bring thousands of scientists and doctors to focus on brain research. A researcher at Israel's Ben Gurion University has succeeded in creating human monoclonal antibodies, which can neutralise the highly contagious smallpox virus without inducing the dangerous side effects of the existing vaccine. Two Israelis received the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Doctors Ciechanover and Hershko's research and discovery of one of the human cells most important cyclical processes will lead the way to DNA repair, control of newly produced proteins, and immune defense systems. The Movement Disorder Surgery program at Israel's Hadassah Medical Center has successfully eliminated the physical manifestations of Parkinson's disease in a select group of patients with a deep brain stimulation technique. For women who undergo hysterectomies each year for the treatment of uterine fibroids, the development in Israel of the ExAblate 2000 System is a welcome breakthrough, offering a non-invasive alternative to surgery. Israel is developing a nose drop that will provide a five-year flu vaccine. 'Given Imaging' in Yokneam, Israel, was awarded The 2004 Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award for its new PillCam, a tiny camera in a pill hat allows doctors to view the digestive tracts when swallowed by patients. These are just a few of the medical projects that you can help stop with your Israeli boycott. But let's NOT get too obsessed with medical research, there are other ways you can make a personal sacrifice with your anti-Israel boycott.
Everybody thinks Stephen Hawking is a brilliant, but think again: How can a man as brilliant as Hawking boycott Israel when it makes the microchip that enables him to talk? NOW LETS SEE HOW SINCERE YOU ARE Set a personal example. THROW AWAY YOUR COMPUTER NOW!!! Most of Windows operating systems were developed by Microsoft-Israel.WHOOPS, HAVE I HIT A NERVE ME WONDERS????? The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed at Intel in Israel. Both the Pentium 4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely designed, developed, and produced in Israel. Voice mail technology was developed in Israel. The technology for the AOL Instant Messenger ICQ was developed in 1996 in Israel by four young Israeli whiz kids. Both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R.& D. facilities outside the US in Israel. So, due to your complete boycott of anything Israeli, you now have poorer health and no computer. But your bad news does not end there. HOPE YOU GUYS WHO WANT TO BOYCOTT ISRAELI GOODS ARE MAKING NOTES..THROW AWAY YOUR MOBILE PHONES NOW!!! Cell phone technology was also developed in Israel by Motorola, which has its biggest development center in Israel. Most of the latest technology in your mobile phone was developed by Israeli scientists. Feeling unsettled? You should be. Part of your personal security rests with Israeli inventiveness, borne out of our urgent necessity to protect and defend our lives from the terrorists you support. A phone can remotely activate a bomb, or be used for tactical communications by terrorists, bank robbers, or hostage-takers. It is vital that official security and law enforcement authorities have access to cellular jamming and detection solutions. Enter Israel's Netline Communications Technologies with their security expertise to help the fight against terror. A joint, non-profit, venture between Israel and Maryland will result in a > 5 day Business Development and Planning Conference in March 2005.Selected Israeli companies will partner with Maryland firms to provide innovation to the US need for homeland security. I also want you to know that Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees to the population in the world. Israel produces more scientific papers per capita - 109 per 10,000 - than any other nation. Israel has the highest number of start-up companies per rata. Even in absolute terms, the second highest number, after the US. Israel has the highest ratio of patents filed. Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies outside of Silicon Valley. Israel has more museums per capita than any other nation. Israel has the second highest publication of new books per capita. Relative to population, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing nation on earth. These immigrants come in search of democracy, religious freedom or expression, economic opportunity, and quality of life. Believe it or not, Israel is the only country in the world, which had a net gain in the number of trees both in the 20th century and last year. Israel is the only country on earth which has developed flourishing agriculture on an arid land. And the only one transferring its unique agricultural and irrigating technologies gratis to neighboring and African developing countries. So, you can vilify and demonize the State of Israel. You can continue your silly boycott, if you wish. But I wish you would consider the consequences, and the truth. Think of the massive contribution that Israel is giving to the world, including the Palestinians - and to you - in science, medicine, communications, security. Above all, one of the most imminent beneficiaries of Israel's progressive society is the Palestinians who live close by and receive top flight medical and social services from Israel. This service and attention to the medical, technological, and communication needs of the Palestinians would be put in jeopardy by your boycott. Pro rata for population , in Israel, are probably making a greater contribution than any other nation on earth. So, please think again!

  2. By the way, one would be forgiven for asking why I have posted the above. I received an email asking me to join a boycott march against buying anything that is manufactured etc in Israel. I answered that emailing agreeing I would join the march as long as it's sincere and not just a boycott of Israeli oranges and shampoo. So I sent them the list of all the goods that they have to boycott and guess what I haven't heard a word back...Am I surprised...ARE YOU SURPRISED? Thinking about it perhaps they couldn't email me back because they have just thrown away their computers and mobile phones!!!

  3. "Think of the massive contribution that Israel is giving to the world, including the Palestinians..." - Yes Lets!
Let's think about all the Palestinian homes Israel demolishes on a daily basis while expanding their illegal settlements well into Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank, including in and around occupied East Jerusalem in blatant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and International Law.
Let's think about the hundreds of children generally between the ages of 12 - 18 (some as young as 8) being taken from their homes in the middle of the night, blindfolded, handcuffed and held without charge and without their parents or lawyers for extended periods (days & weeks).
Let's think about the fact that Israel Israel controls the water supply to Palestine and currently allocates 90% to itself and 10% to Palestinians with only 5% of that being drinkable.
Let's think about the over $233.7 billion the United States has provided the Israeli occupation with so it can carry out it's daily expansion and Palestinian expulsion. (With that kind of money no wonder they are high on the list of developers)
Let's think about the destruction of Palestinian olive groves. One of the few self sustaining 'industries' they have left - that is when they are allowed on their own land to harvest said olives without being beaten by settlers.
Let's think of the massacres carried out by Israel starting from the '48 Nakba. Here's an incomplete list:
    http://occupiedpalestine.wordpress.com/2010/10/03/the-deathmasters-israeli-massacres-on-palestinians/#AL
Let's think about the 100's of people who have died, including pregnant women because Israel decides who can access it's hospitals and has created such a shortfall in electricity & medical supplies in Palestinian hospitals that they've become thoroughly useless for anybody needing serious medical attention.
If this is not enough for you to think about start reading:
'The ethnic cleansing of Palestine' by Israeli historian Ilan Pappe or log on to 'Breaking the Silence' started by ex Israeli soldiers.
And if your really serious about finding out some truths - the ones main stream media would prefer you didn't know, then start at the bottom of this page then work your way up.

Once you've done all of that, we can have a discussion.

    1. I'm quoting facts, your source of information seems to be coming from a very well oiled Palestinian propaganda machine confirmed as a support Palestinian Facebook page..Did you know that . Roughly 18% of Israel’s more than six million citizens are Arabs. The vast majority (81%) of Israeli Arabs are Muslims. Arabs in Israel have equal voting rights; in fact, it is one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab women may vote. Arabs currently hold ten seats in the Knesset. Israeli Arabs have also held various government posts. They benefit with free schooling, free medical care and free housing. The sole legal distinction between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel is that the latter are not required to serve in the Israeli army. This was to spare Arab citizens the need to take up arms against their brethren. Nevertheless, many Arabs have volunteered for military duty and the Druze and Circassian communities are subject to the draft. A small lesson in Hamas propaganda please watch this video that was sent to me by a pro Palestinian group about the savagery dished out by Israeli soldiers then read my comments after watching the sham of a video hoping that the world will believe it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk9mrg18qmU&feature=youtu.be

Is this meant to be some kind of childish joke???? 10 seconds into this video I could see they are Arab actors. No wonder there are no famous Palestinian actors. Now look at the ridicules bright red berets these scruffy actors are wearing sitting on top of their heads (I think they bought them at some market stall to make this armature video). Israel security would never allow this film to be made. Approx 1:44 into the video a 'prisoner' is seen to be 'beaten' on the back and all of a sudden he squirts tomato sauce on the wall from his front!!! Then you see a group of actors, sorry 'prisoners seemingly be beaten, look carefully the batons are NOT making contact. The actor on the far left is even wearing a baseball hat!!!! Now you see them sitting around yet where is the one with the blooded wounds???

    2. Maurice I am the moderator on the 'support Palestine' page. Most of my 'Palestinian propaganda' as you call it come from first hand accounts & officially reported facts. Did you even bother to read or watch any of it? Are you telling me that the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory is a propaganda organization?
'Breaking the silence' was started by ex Israeli soldiers who decided to come clean both publicly and with their consciences on the way Palestinians are treated in reality not how Israel would like us to think they are.
Ilan Pappé is a well respected Israeli historian. What does he have to gain?
Many of the sources that I quote on 'Support Palestine' are Israeli. There are many Israeli organizations, NGO's & ordinary citizens fed up with the way Palestinians are treated & represented by Israel.
As for the video you directed me to I did watch some of it and I agree - it seems to be utter propaganda hence, it would not rate a mention in my blog or on my page.
