SAD NEWS: Singer Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers dies aged 74 in Los Angeles after battle with heart disease. I was privileged to meet and interview the Everly brothers on a number of occasion at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. they were always charming and gave 100% when performing. The Beatles always claimed they were influenced by the Everly's

Phil Everly of the popular Grammy-winning duo The Everly Brothers passed away Friday in Burbank at age 74.
The rock singer - who scored hits with All I Have To Do Is Dream, Wake Up Little Susie, and Bye Bye Love - died due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
'We are absolutely heartbroken,' his wife Patti Everly told the Los Angeles Times.

'He fought long and hard,' she noted, adding that Phil's death was the result of a lifetime cigarette habit.
Along with his 76-year-old brother Don, the Everly Brothers still hold the record for the most top 100 singles by any duo in history.
During the height of their success in the 1950s and 1960s, the country crooners charted nearly three dozen hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
'They had that sibling sound,' the 67-year-old told the newspaper.
'The information of your DNA is carried in your voice, and you can get a sound [with family] that you never get with someone who’s not blood related to you. And they were both such good singers - they were one of the foundations, one of the cornerstones of the new rock 'n' roll sound.'
Their signature harmonies and steel-string guitars also influenced the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Neil Young, Jack White, and Elliot Smith.

Sir Paul McCartney mentioned 'Phil and Don' in his song Let 'Em In, and Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis named his six-year-old son Everly.
And last November, Norah Jones and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day released a tribute album to the band called Foreverly.
Aside from his brother/bandmate and wife, Phil is survived by his mother Margaret, sons Jason & Chris, and two granddaughters.

R.I.P Phil Everly 1939- 2013
This is my favorite Everly Brothers Song and I always loved playing it on my radio show.

  1. Now here’s a question for you Tomie, or Tommy. What is it about Maurice Boland that makes you so jalousie, so obsessed with him that makes you continue to bad mouth him. You say you’re on a crusade, what crusade? A crusade of making a fool of yourself ? You go on and on about the Fire Concert and yet no one seems to support you, 90 victims of the fire and yet NO complaints from the victims towards Maurice except you and you didn’t suffer from the tragedy. At least Maurice tried to do something. You go on about some of Italk staff not being paid, but not one has said anything, why? Because it’s not true. You go on and on about Maurice closing Italk because of threats from the Junta and now your banging on about it re TRE. I don’t remember a time when Maurice has bad mouthed you in fact I’ve never read your name anywhere on Maurice’s blog. So why Tommy? Why when not one person has shown any support to you. I’m sure you’re a decent bloke under it all, but your obsession with Boland does your credibility no good. So come on Tommy grow up and get on with your own life. Happy New Year.

  2. A Message for TJ: Sorry to keep using your blog Maurice but this low life hangs on your every word and pasts every story days after they've broken thanks to you. My message to TJ: What a disgusting little no one you are. You've now succeeded in lowering yourself in new anti Semitic low. Whats Nigel Goldmans name sounding Jewish worth a filthy remark like yours? Whats Jewishness got to do with anything. Did you mention Ronnie Biggs was a Christian. or the man who murdered his wife in UK was a Protestant. You are nothing but a low life anti Semite. You say you have a few friends. Where are they then Tommy. You say you have one in your imagination, if this is whats leading you further down the gutter get rid of him!

  4. Gary, whilst I appreciate you defending me I would, as i suggested, ignore this man. Don't read his blog. You have stated a number of times no one ever comments on it ,so by you reacting you're only encouraging him to keep up his nonsense hoping you will react making him feel important As you've reported all his blog is, is copy and paste newspaper articles which are days out of date and whatever rubbish he makes up about me. You go and have a nice day and let him go on talking to himself.
