On Friday evening at 7:45pm Spain started the Yom Kippure: יוֹם כִּפּוּר, also known as Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year for the Jewish people. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Jewish people traditionally observe this holy day with an approximate 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. Here we fasted from 7:45 pm Friday to 8:50pm on Saturday evening. The word fast in the Jewish sense means fasting the whole 25 hrs no food no water.

Believe me its a loooong 25 hours starting in the Synagogue on Friday evening and continuing on Saturday morning at 9am The hardest part here on the Costa in NO liquid .

Before sunset on the eve of Yom Kippur the congregation gathers in the synagogue. The Ark is opened and two people take from it two Torah scrolls. Then they take their places, one on each side of the cantor, and the three (symbolizing a Beth Din or rabbinical court) recite:

"By the authority of the Court on High and by authority of the court down here, by the permission of One Who Is Everywhere and by the permission of this congregation, we hold it lawful to pray with sinners."

The cantor then chants the passage beginning with the words Kol Nidre with its touching melodic phrases, and, in varying intensities from pianissimo (quiet) to fortissimo (loud), repeats twice (for a total of three iterations) (lest a latecomer not hear them) the following words (Nusach Ashkenaz):

"All [personal] vows we are likely to make, all [personal] oaths and pledges we are likely to take between this Yom Kippur and the next Yom Kippur, we publicly renounce. Let them all be relinquished and abandoned, null and void, neither firm nor established. Let our [personal] vows, pledges and oaths be considered neither vows nor pledges nor oaths".

The date of the composition of the declaration and its author are alike unknown; but it was in existence at the Geonic period (589–1038 CE).

The tendency to make vows to God was strong in ancient Israel

Here is a scene from the Move The Jazz Singer staring Neil Diamond and Sir Laurence Olivia (who played the father and the old Cantor who wanted his son one day to sing Kol Nidre but they had a huge falling out because Neil married a non Jew)

This is a wonderful scene from the opening of the Yom Kippur when Diamond takes to singing Kol Nidre as a surprise for his sick father :

Kol Nidre, Though not a prayer, this dry legal formula and its ceremonial accompaniment have been charged with emotional undertones since the medieval period, creating a dramatic introduction to Yom Kippur on what is often dubbed "Kol Nidrei night". It is written in Aramaic, not Hebrew. Its name is taken from the opening words, meaning all vows.

It was in 1973 Yom Kippur that an Arab coalition of Egypt and Syria launched a joint surprise attack on Israeli knowing it to be the holiest day of the year and on this specific holiday the country comes to a complete standstill; both religiously observant Jews and most of the secular majority fast, abstain from any use of fire, electricity, engines, communications, etc., all road traffic ceases, and airports are shut down. ( soldiers also go home from military facilities for the holiday, and Israel is more vulnerable with much of its military on leave.

Egyptian and Syrian forces crossed ceasefire lines to enter the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights respectively, which had been captured by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. Both the United States and the Soviet Union initiated massive resupply efforts to their respective allies during the war, and this led to a near-confrontation between the two nuclear superpowers.

Israel quickly mobilized took on these two massive Arab countries coming at them from both sides and pushed them back whenst they came from causing yet more humiliation for both Arab superpowers. This was of course the second time that the massive power of neighboring Arab countries tried to wipe Israel of the face of the earth. I'm sure you'll remember the 1967 war when the 456,000 soldiers of the combined Iraqi, Syrian, Jordanian and Egyptian armies attacked Israel and within 6 days Israels tiny army and air force humiliated these huge Arab countries with one of the world greatest war victories.

ISRAEL WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED AND THIS IS WHY.......LIVE WITH IT

AND OF COURSE THERE'S THE ISRAELI POLICE FORCE....

FROM DESERT TO THIS IN 66 YEARS AND THERE ARE STILL IDIOTS OUT THERE WHO BELIEVE ISRAEL SHOULD GIVE IT ALL UP....DREAM ON LOSERS

AND REPLACE IT WITH THIS?????

IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS. WHY ISRAEL CAN NEVER LIFT THE BLOCKADE INTO GAZA UNTIL THE SCUM CALLED HAMAS ARE BEATEN OUT OF TOWN, AND HERE'S
WHY....
The Israeli navy has intercepted multiple attempts to smuggle weapons manufacturing material into Gaza since the end of the war in August, a senior navy commander told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

Cmdr. Eli Soholitski has commanded the navy’s Squadron 916 for two years. Squadron 916, the navy’s largest formation, is responsible for defending the whole sector from Ashdod to the Gaza Strip, and was involved heavily in the 50-day conflict with Hamas and Islamic Jihad last summer.

He is about to take command of Squadron 32, a missile-ship formation, that secures the northern naval sector.

“Our vessels are ready to go into offensive missions at any time. There have been more than a few attempts to infiltrate the naval closure. We’ve conducted activity against vessels that violated the closure,” Soholitski said.

WELL WELL THE TRUTH KEEPS COMING OUT. SOMETHING HAMAS WON'T BE HAPPY WITH....
